St Helens and Wigan UKIP urge British MPs to say NO to prisoner votes.

Today (10/2), MPs will be voting in Westminster on an important issue; namely whether or not prisoners should be given the opportunity to vote.


Prisoners have not had the right to vote in Britain in 140 years, but European Judges are seeking to overturn our laws.


We in UKIP believe that those who break the law should forfeit their right to help decide who creates our laws.


If you too are opposed to prisoners having the vote, please contact your MP requesting that they act now to prevent it.


UKIP Leader Nigel Farage MEP has told Brussels Bureaucrats in a speech this week: “Unsurprisingly, the mass of the British public are totally opposed to the idea that prisoners should get the vote.”

UKIP: Opposing Turkey's entry into the EU

UKIP's chief spokesman, Nigel Farage MEP, has slammed David Cameron's demands that Turkey get let into the EU as "irresponsible and illegitimate".

"He states that those who wish to preserve our culture make him angry. Well, Prime Minister, your cavalier approach to the traditions and history of this country make us all very angry, but your anger can lead to disastrous and irreversible changes to our nation," Mr Farage said.

Under EU laws of free movement the people of Turkey would be granted the right to move to Britain, nobody in Britain has ever been asked if they are happy with that. Turkey is a nation whose population is projected to grow to 100million by 2020 by the Council of Europe.

Mr Farage continued: "Worse still, as he knows that Turkish accession will be rejected by France, Germany, Austria and others he is guilty of building up hopes where there are none.

"Of course we should be building up trade links, of course we should encourage free movement of capital and goods. Of course we should be politically supportive of a friend and ally, but to do so requires honesty. Not snake oil and insincerity.

UKIP St Helens blast government over crime

Seventeen-year-old Simon Heaton was unmasked as the evil attacker who raped and abused a 10-year-old girl in Victoria Park last year.

It was revealed that while awaiting trial for that offence, Heaton was granted bail, leaving him free to batter and sexually assault a nine-year-old girl at woodland in Great Harwood, Lancashire.

The sex monster has since been jailed indefinitely but St Helens North MP Dave Watts believes the decision to bail him last May should be examined.

In the wake of the Heaton sentencing, political party UKIP, contacted the Star to say they agreed with Mr Watts’ view but stressed it is a Labour government that has had influence over the justice system for almost 13 years.

Gary Robinson, of UKIP, who will compete against Watts for the St Helens North seat at this year’s general election, said:

“It is his government who has presided over the justice system for more than a decade and his government which passes down advice and guidelines to judges.”
